Happy Birthday Singapore~~~

First of all: Happy Birthday Singapore!

Well, I reckon looking at all the facebook posts and updates, it seems that no matter where we are in the world, Singaporeans all over the world still call our country home.

It's not a matter of being patriotic or being loyal to the country. Every National Day, memories of life in Singapore will definitely flood through the minds of Singaporeans.

I, myself, think about the times when I watch the parade on TV. I was lucky last year that the connection was good. This year however, is not good at all.

I love watching the parade and listening to the commands. I don't really care about the rest of the show though. Although it is definitely a spectacle to behold, I find it a little waste of resources. But whatever, I'm not putting my negative opinions here.

All in all, I miss watching the parade and the fireworks that follow thereafter.

What I like about this country..

Two part entry.. First part would be what I like about this country.

Recently, on the bus back home, I've been thinking what I like about this country and I have so far listed a few in my mind.

Here they are:

1) People are friendlier (except for those noobs who think they are too great)
2) Pace of life not as hectic
3) You get your free time when you want it
4) Your weekends are always your weekends (unless last minute work crops up = unavoidable)
5) Good International Food (yes, international, not local. Tell me... what do you classify as Aussie food? Fish and Chips?)

No worries mate.

So here I am, in the second week of Semester.

The feeling that I get from fellow students here in UNSW is the feeling of lethargy.

It seems like everyone has just gone through 12 weeks of University life and have been killed by assignments. Everyone has started sleeping in lecture! And it was only the first week of uni!

It seems like everyone just went to the snows and had a hard time skiing/snow boarding.. or just too much fun during winter.

Anyway, with the no worries feeling ingrained in Australians, it looks like it has rubbed off on all Asians and other races/ethnic groups in the university.

Lecturers alike. To many students, it is "bah.. the start of a new semester.. let us continue partying till week 2 before we start doing work.." and the week 2 becomes week 3, and then week 4 and so on. Lecturers seem to have that thought too. Their instructions online do not match up with the file names that they uploaded.

Quote one example. "Please find the lab practice for this in the attached file as Q1 and Q2 of the file name 'MatLab Questions' on your WebCT page." There was no 'MatLab Questions' on my WebCT page. There is only 'MatLab Exercises'.

If not for common sense, I think many would think that the MatLab Questions are not uploaded online. But who knows? Aussies might just do that. All because of their motto in life "NO WORRIES MATE!"

Land of the rising sun

Back from the dead and back on my computer.

The past three wks have been a blast for me. Up to the point of exhaustion and still feeling it.

First up, I have an announcement to make. IT'S MY FINAL SEMESTER!!!

Ok. Done with the formalities. Here's what happened to me in the past 3 wks.

1) Went back to Singapore to enjoy a little of the heat (surprisingly, I got acclimatised on the second day and slept without aircon)

2) Karen came over to Singapore and I brought her around.

3) Went to Japan (Hokkaido and Tokyo) for a trip. Thanks to my sister who had to give up her place to Karen to go instead while she "enjoyed" her "Eurotrip" as she calls it on an island called Pulau Tioman.

4) Came back to Singapore and had the second round of bringing Karen around and meeting up with friends.

5) Came back to Sydney to do my final semester!

Well, all that travelling has made me tired till now. I slept at 9pm last night, only to awaken to shower and head back to bed again. =_='''

It's time to plunge head in straight to the books! Final Semester. Target: every subject? High Distinction. Hard to achieve? Maybe, but I will give it my best shot.

*For those interested in looking at my Japan trip pictures, head to my Facebook profile to take a look at it.

in the land of the sun.

Blogging right now from the hotel lobby.

it's been a whirlwind trip. Great trip I must say, but I really need more time at Harajuku to get stuff that I really want.

I really can't afford to shop at places like Takashimaya, Daimaru, Isetan. I can only shop at Harajuku.

Well, I hope everything will go right with the discussion. I wanna head back there to get that bloody piggy t-shirt.

To do list

Taking some time off the calculation for geo-technical stuff, I've come up with a to-do list when I head back to Singapore.

1) Pack up my iTunes list/Music list

2) Get a 1TB External HDD (my laptop HDD is running out, my 500GB is running out, time to get a 1TB one now.)

3) Get ready a new folder for next semester

4) Time to touch base with future employers
