in the land of the sun.

Blogging right now from the hotel lobby.

it's been a whirlwind trip. Great trip I must say, but I really need more time at Harajuku to get stuff that I really want.

I really can't afford to shop at places like Takashimaya, Daimaru, Isetan. I can only shop at Harajuku.

Well, I hope everything will go right with the discussion. I wanna head back there to get that bloody piggy t-shirt.

To do list

Taking some time off the calculation for geo-technical stuff, I've come up with a to-do list when I head back to Singapore.

1) Pack up my iTunes list/Music list

2) Get a 1TB External HDD (my laptop HDD is running out, my 500GB is running out, time to get a 1TB one now.)

3) Get ready a new folder for next semester

4) Time to touch base with future employers

While I take a little break..

I figured out it might be better off posting some random pictures of my recent cooking.

Somehow or rather, Nathaniel introduced myself and Karen to the latest and healthier version of mashed potato, which is Sweet Potato mash.

Same carbohydrate but has a detox capability that normal potato do not have.

So, having said that, I experimented it with some additional stuff that I put on.

Scotch Steak with mashed sweet potato and baked potato slices topped with Red Wine Jus.

Honey Glazed Lamb Frenched cutlets with homemade Swedish meatballs with sweet potato mash and brocolli.

(This pic is clearer becuz Nathaniel took it with his DSLR. The previous pic was taken with my crappy 3.2 MP phone)

Other than sweet potato mash, here are the other creations that I cooked up.

Crisp Pan fried Salmon on top of Japanese Garlic Fried Rice with homemade Teriyaki Sauce.

Karen said this was the best salmon I've cooked for a long time and the Japanese Fried Rice was really good.

How about some local Singaporean delicacy?

Chilli Crab!!! (Mr Craps, don't be mistaken, I'm not cooking you.)
Forgot to take the pic of the deep fried man tou to go along with the spicy sauce.

This is cooked by Karen, shared the cost of the mud crab, which is in season now.

Ginger and Spring Onions stir fried crab with E-Fu noodle.

Can I say that it tastes really good too? Really delicious nearing restaurant standards, but you can eat that at home. How good can that be?

So that concludes the posting for cooking recently. Time to study again.

Maintaining that motivation to the end of exams..

It's really hard to maintain that motivation that I have at the beginning of semester..

After so many assignments and yet the end of another hectic semester, I'm kinda tired.

I just felt so worn out yesterday that my body and brain refused to do any work at all. It just felt so pent up, so many things on my mind.

I took a walk around the city and that cooled me down a little.

Went home, did a Sudoku puzzle and work and that was it.

I still cannot fully find the motivation to finish up what I started with.

Have my goals faded? Have my resolve gone weak?

Maybe I need a certain break from work to start again.

Maybe that might do the trick.

This is funny

got the picture off Failblog. Quite an interesting picture.

I wonder if the guy who took this was ang moh.

And I covered my eyes in amazement.

Raffles Hotel, Seah Street Deli. Well known place. Bad receipt.

The year of the swine

Swine Flu, the latest trend to hit the streets.

Sydney has it's first case of isolation at World Towers. Hysteria is going all around because more people are infected.

Singapore has it's first case of the H1N1 Type A case from a 22 year old SMU student. Let's all panic.

It's just weird how International SOS does not classify Australia a danger area for swine flu a few weeks ago when there were mild cases of swine flu in the country.

But it's the year of the SWINE! It is natural for my brothers to come out to make their own headlines! To be remembered!

I think I'm stressed out over my report. :P

Engineering Managers

I remember a few years ago, a lecturer asked me "What do you want to do when you graduate?"

I said "A structural engineer."

He said "I'm glad you said that. A lot of students now want to become managers."

Now I realised why he said that. Not only do a lot of my friends want to me managers. I would want to become a manager too.

It is amazing how fast views change. I found out that I can do structural engineering. However, my area of interest is really in Engineering management. Project management especially.

Taking up a human resource management in engineering class has blown up the interest in it. I look forward to class every Monday where I feel my feedback is appreciated. The materials discussed is what I can express myself in and the discussion involves everyday news and thinking. However!!!! I want to state that I am still in line with the goal of a structural engineer, but hope to be a manager in the future.

Picture above is from my assignment. It is a matrix organisation chart.
